REVIEW — HANYUL Pure Artemisia Watery Calming Fluid

Hi everyone! Today I’m gonna be talking about a product I bought a few months ago and I’ve been testing it for quite long time. It’s a long overdue review, I must say. So, let’s jump right in!

ABOUT THE BRAND

Hanyul is a Korean skincare brand under Amore Pacific group that inspired by the traditional folk remedies and medicinal practices carried on for centuries by women in their homes. Hanyul’s products are made with the same traditional and local ingredients including Korean plants and grains such as rice, brown pine needles, artemisia, baekhwago (Korean mushroom), Korean chrysanthemum and their native seoritae (Korean bean).

It is a product for supplying and protecting moisture that has completed dermatological tests. It contains extract of mugwort grown in Ganghwa-do beach. It is a care product that cleanses and moisturizes the skin, which soothes to the tired skin and refreshes.

PACKAGING

Honestly speaking, the packaging was the major reason why I bought this product. It looks sturdy and luxurious yet simple. It makes your skincare stash beautiful and eye-catching. The bottle is also quite big, it has 125 ml of product in it. Also, I like how they use a pump applicator with a bottle cap as well. The bottle’s color itself really goes well with mugwort theme.

TEXTURE, SCENT, COLOR

Now let’s talk about the physical appearance of this product. It has an emulsion consistency in my opinion, it’s rather thick and watery at the same time. I can’t smell a typical mugwort scent on this product, it smells more like a flower for me. But I don’t mind it, the scent will be gone after it’s fully absorbed into the skin. From the picture below you can see that this fluid has a white-transparant color to it.

HOW IT WORKS ON MY SKIN

This fluid absorbs pretty quickly into my skin and leaves no tackiness behind. It spreads really well and feels soft on my skin.

As far as I know, Korean’s typical emulsions could replace a moisturizer for oily skin especially during a summer time. Since this product has the same viscosity, of course I tried to use it as a moisturizer several times.

If I use a sunscreen with a high content of alcohol in it, this product can’t hold up the moisture as well as a moisturizer. But if I use a dewy-finish or even a creamy sunscreen, this fluid could be a good moisturizer, especially during a hot weather.

How about the calming function? Well, it feels cool and soothing upon application. But this fluid can’t fix the redness or irritation on my skin, or even acne. It only hydrates and moisturizes my skin which I’m pretty satisfied for. Other than that, this fluid doesn’t do much to my skin.

Overall, if you have an oily skin like me and you’re looking for something light for summer time or during a hot weather that could moisturized your skin, you can look up to this Hanyul Pure Artemisia Watery Calming Essence. But if you have dry skin, you want to use a heavier product than this, in my opinion, or you can use this as a hydration booster and layer it with your regular moisturizer.
