REVIEW – Missha TONIGHT Brilliance Oil in Cream

Have you ever bought some skincare products just because it is pretty? I did. I just couldn’t resist the packaging of this Missha Tonight Brilliiance Oil in Cream. So I must say that was a blind buy for me. I’ve opened the jar a few months ago but I just use it regularly for the past couple of weeks. Let’s get into the review!

PACKAGING

May I take a moment to adore this beautiful jar? The product’s packed in a purple ombre hard plastic jar. I forgot wheter it comes with a spatula or not but I didn’t need that. Why? Let’s talk about this later. The jar also comes with a lid inside but mine is stuck on the outer lid.

TEXTURE, SCENT, COLOR & FINISH

It has a gel-like texture that’s almost watery. The first time I opened the jar, it spilled out everywhere; on my bedsheet, on my legs, on my hands. I honestly didn’t expect the texture would be that runny.

The cream’s color is also somehow beautiful. It has pearlescent sheen with a hint of purple to it. The fragrance is more like a soft-fruity scent to me but it fades right away after the cream sinks into the skin.

I knew this “Oil in Cream” is more suitable for people with dry skin since it has an oily finish. But just because the packaging, I tried to ignore it LOL. In my defense, I could use this product for night time. Well, it’s true; the finish is occlusive and a bit greasy but it works great for me who sleep in an air-con bedroom.

On a side note, don’t ever try to rub it on your face. At least on my skin, it balls up and makes me want to start over the whole skincare routine. IMO maybe it’s because a high content of Cyclomenthicone in it.

MY EXPERIENCE

Well, for me it’s a good moisturizer with an occlusive finish that will prevent TEWL from your skin overnight. It’s a little bit greasy for me but it’s a nice pairing whenever I use Retinol or AHA which sometimes makes my skin feels tight. I must admit that I wake up with a greasy skin the morning after, but that’s what cleansers are for, right? The other good thing is this “Oil in Cream” doesn’t clog my pores. My skin also feels soft and plump in the morning after I use this cream. The effect is somewhat similar to when I use a face oil.

Overall, I do recommend this more for dry skin people but if you have oily skin but loves to use an occlusive moisturizer at night, like me, you may try this.

Rating: 4/5
